EKA unity investigation on Indian Music and Dance
EKA [unity] is a multidisciplinary project whose aim is reinterpretating the language of indian classical music and dance, using technological resources to develop a cientific investigation that permits a deeper understanding of this subject.
Looking at this ancient style in a contemporary context, we intend to develop an investigation essencially in the areas of dance and music. The basis of the musical reinterpretation will be the fusion of traditional South Indian music with electronic music.
The founders of this project are Dilen and Eurica Luz, in collaboration with people from different areas such as photography, video, animation and robotics. The final products of this investigation are also of several kinds, in an unifying perspectiv of the several forms of artistic expression.

Although the project is giving its first steps in Portugal we intend to expand it abroad. It comes in the sequence of M.A.D. [Music, Architecture, Design] developped between Lisbon and London. M.A.D. Collective has been developping multidisciplinary and multicultural activities in these two cities, based in Lx Factory in Lisbon.
EKA [unity], based in the same place, gives continuity to this kind of activity, having however some specific characteristics. We will promote workshops, performances and installation works. Another point of interest is to explore two of the most particular charateristics of the Indian classical dance – the geometry of the space and the sculpturesque aspect of the dance. For that aim, we will make use of technological resources to create sculptures based in the movements of the body during the dance and its relation with the space.
For this project to take life, we are looking for support of several kinds, from financial support for investigation, to provide spaces for workshops and performances, sponsoring and partnership with different artists, companies and universities that develop investigation in new technology which can be useful for this project.
